Last Sunday afternoon at the home venue, our Intermediate footballers made their exit from the Tom Creedon Cup competition, at the hands of Newmarket on the score-line of 0-7 to 2-9.

This was a closely contested game and in fairness to our boys, the score does not give a true reflection of the play, as with less than ten minutes to go only a point separated the sides.

However, inside the last six minutes, or so, the winners got through for the two goals which put the game far beyond Kildorrery’s reach.  Once again, KIldorrery’s mentors used the game to give all available players as much game time as possible, in preparation for their league campaign which will kick off early in February.

Team and scorers:  Liam Kelly, Cormac O’Baoill, Tom P. Murphy, Jerry McCarthy, Michael Walsh, Finbarr Stapleton, Sean Kelly, Shane Fitzgerald, Peter O’Brien, James O’Sullivan 0-1, Wm. Fouhy, Shane O’Neill 0-1, Tom Monaghan 0-2, Stevie Coughlan 0-2, David Kelly 0-1. Subs used.  Ciaran O’Connor, Liam McGrath, Eamonn O’Connor, James McEniry, Dylan Kent, P.J.Keating, Tiernan Condon, Anthony Palmer.

Last Monday night, the annual Mass for deceased members and benefactors of the Club was celebrated by Fr Lomasney P.P.

Club officers and members did the readings and invocations. Newly elected Club Cathaoirleach, Dave Roche, thanked Fr Lomasney for facilitating the Club and the members for attending.

The first meeting of 2016 then followed.

There was huge support for the table quiz which was held in Ollie’s Bar, last Saturday night. The standard of answering was very high with three teams finishing on 56 points.

In a tie-breaker, Denis Fitzgerald’s team of himself, Aidrienne , Sheila and Elaine O’Connor emerged victorious. Second were: John P. Fenton, Liam Evans, Sean Dennehy, Pat Fenton, and in third place were, Sarah Roche, Tom Paul Murphy, Karen Murphy and Sinead Harding.

Many thanks to all who supported the venture.

The Kildorrery Drama Group made a very generous presentation of €500 to the Club, last Monday night, for which the Club is most grateful.

The next fortnightly Club lotto draw will take place this Saturday night at Sheahan’s Hilltop Lounge, when the jackpot will be €3,200.

Congratulations are in order, this week to our Club Runai, Joe Sherlock and his wife Eimear, on the birth of their son, Donncha Seosamh.

At last Monday’s meeting votes of sympathy were passed to the family and relatives of the late Sheila Sheahan, Main Street;  the Thornhill family, Main Street, the Walsh Family, Limerick Road, the Hickey family, Fermoy Road and the relatives of the late Billy Cross, Cahir and formerly of Limerick Road, on their recent bereavements.

Ar dheis De go raibh anamacha na Marbh.
