On Wednesday evening, last week, our Junior B2 footballers scored a convincing 3-13 to 3-8 win over Buttevant in the North Cork championship quarter final, at Doneraile.

Kildorrery, from the throw-in failed to score from their opening attacks and, in fact it was Buttevant who opened the scoring and had 1-1 on the board inside the first four minutes and had increased their tally with a point from a ‘45’ before Kildorrery opened their account with a point in the sixth minute. By the end of the first quarter, Buttevant led 1-3 to 0-2. And had their first goal three minutes later, but this proved to be their last score of the half, while Kildorrery dominated the remaining minutes to lead at the break 2-6 to 2-3.

Buttevant showed some signs of improvement after the restart, getting through for 1-1 in less than five minutes. Kildorrery replied with like scores to maintain their three points advantage.  At the end of the third quarter, the losers had reduced their deficit to two points- 3-6 to 3-8.  Kildorrery, now sensing victory pressed on and added five points inside the last quarter, while Buttevant could only manage two points in the same period.   The winners now go forward to play Kilshannig in the semi-final.

The Club lotto jackpot will be €11,600 when the next fortnightly draw takes place at Sheahan’s Hilltop Lounge, on this Saturday night September 2nd.

We wish the best of luck to our two players James Keating and Ian Butler and the Cork minor hurlers in the All-Ireland final on Sunday next.  The Club and indeed the Parish are justifiably proud of them.

Best wishes to our dual player, Michael Walsh, who having taken a year out, set off for Australia, last Wednesday.  An outstanding player in both codes, his absence will be obvious and especially this Saturday.

The following were the winners in the August Draw:
