At Ganworth, last Friday evening our Under 21C footballers were a little disappointing when, after failing to cope with Kilavullen’s second half effort, in this championship quarter- final clash, they went under on the score-line of 1-6 to 1-10. From the throw-in, Kildorrery started well and had two points on the board, before Kilavullen had their first score in the eighth minute.

Kildorrery continued to pressurise their opponents and added two further points before a raid on the winners’ goal yielded a penalty, which Shane O’Neill converted, in the twenty-third minute to put them 1-4 to 0-1 ahead. However, it was Kilavullen who finished the better adding three points to their tally inside the last seven minutes of the half. The score was 1-4 to 0-4 at the break.

After the resumption of play, Kildorrery stretched their lead with a pointed free to which Kilavullen replied with two points in quick succession. Kildorrery did have another point in this third quarter, but it proved to be their last score of the game, while Kilavullen now rampant went on to add 1-4 to their tally, in the last quarter.
