Last week was a busy one for the Club, with no less than three teams in action. Then, on Saturday evening, the Club hosted the Junior A Hurling championship semi-final, between Shanballymore and Glanworth’s Harbour Rovers. The latter emerged as winners on the score-line of 0-13 to 1-8.

On Wednesday evening our Minor hurlers, who the previous week, had drawn their Championship game with Clyda Rovers, travelled to Mallow for the replay. After a keenly contested game our boys were unlucky to lose so narrowly on the score 3-13 to 3-14. In the Junior football championship, at Shanballymore, last Sunday evening, we were defeated by Buttevant on the score 1-11 to 4-8.

Our Intermediate hurlers, as part of their preparation for their forthcoming championship encounter with Eire Og, played two challenge games during the week. On Tuesday evening they gave a good account of themselves when defeating Mungret 2-16 to 0-15. At the home venue, on Friday evening, they defeated Blackrock (Co. Limerick) 1-19 to 1-18.

Friday 2nd. September. Junior B Hurling Championship V Glanworth (venue and time to be confirmed).

Congratulations to Ian Butler who was on the Cork Under 17 Hurling Development team which lost by the minimum to Kilkenny, last week-end and to Cathal Harrington who was on the Cork Under 16 B team.

Wm Fouhy was the Club’s only representative on the Avondhu Senior Football panel which defeated Newcestown in Round 4 of the Co. Championship last week-end.

We extend best of luck to Marty Farrell (who has local connections) and the Limerick Minor Hurling panel in next Sunday’s All-Ireland final.

Congratulations to Eamonn Coughlan, Ballinguiroe, who was the winner of €150 in the Avondhu Confined section of the Cork G.A.A Clubs’ draw, which was held at the Ballygiblin Club last Thursday night. The August draw was the last one in the 2015/16 series and the launch of the 2016/17 series will be held at Bishopstown G.A.A. Club on Wednesday September 7th.

The next fortnightly Club lotto draw will be held at Ollie’s Bar this Saturday night, when the Jackpot will be €6,400.
