Kildorrery GAA AGM

The AGM took place on Thursday 17th December 7:30pm in the Church Hall.

It allowed for more attendees to be spread out on the night. There was a good crowd there and it was noted by many that it was an excellent meeting with lots of debate.

The meeting Opened and Pa Walsh opened with his Chairman’s address.

He thanked everybody for their support during the year. He said the club had a busy year with a huge effort put in by all involved. He said while It has been a challenging year amidst the pandemic, he said that the club did well ad he hoped that 2022 would bring brighter times.

He thanked his Fellow officers and all other officers he thanked all members of all committees as well as all the players and mentors of the teams culminating in thanking all those members who attend weekly. He thanked the outgoing mentors and wished the incoming the best.

He said he was Looking forward to 2022 and the possibility of better times and success.

James followed up with his secretary report. This was as comprehensive as ever.

He thanked everyone for their support and paid tribute to the under 17 teams winning a few competitions. He summarised on our Second year of county championship round robin. He like Pa thanked the players. He thanked Eamonn McCarthy who will coordinate the rebel’s bounty draw and he went on to say he knows we will all support Eamonn.

He paid special reference to Coaching and particularly at the underage level and he mentioned the effort that goes in there. He thanked Eamonn Sean and Brian who are very invested in this area of the club and all the officers and mentors of the juvenile club who he said were tremendously dedicated.

Finally, he thanked his family for supporting him in what is an extremely busy role.

Next up Willie gave his treasurers report and he personally thanked every member of each committee related to finance and to all those members who go the extra mile to try and sustain the club. He said the Lotto committee of Adrian Jimmy Denis and Michael were doing a sterling job and the bingo under the supervision of Tom Thornhill was excellent. He also said that the efforts of Pat fenton in relation to the seat for life was also welcome. He thanked Barry O Connor who manages the 100 club draw annually and he thanked all those who sponsor the club on an annual basis.

On the matter of the lotto committee Willie mentioned the previously committee of Eddie o Connor, Timmy and Anna Coffee as well Paddy and Ann Hanley who worked tirelessly with the lotto for years. He said the gym was going really well and he thanked all the gym committee for their effors. It was an excellent report by willie as usual and he finished by wishing the club well for 2022.

The Election of Officers took place next, and the following were elected:

  • Irish Officer: Jason walsh
  • Childrens Officer and Insurance Officer: Ned Dwane
  • North Cork Board: John Fouhy
  • County Board: Pat Fenton Tony McCarthy

After Affiliations were discussed the following team management was proposed for the year ahead.

Team Management 2022:

  • Football Intermediate: Brian McNamara, Stevie Kent and Brendan Hannon
  • Intermediate Hurling: Sean O Donnell, Loughlin McGovern, Liam Kelly and Dave Roche
  • Junior B hurlers: Barry Young, Ciaran O' Connor and Will Keating
  • Junior B footballers: Mike Kent, Pa Walsh and James fox. With help from Brian McNamara
  • Under 19 hurling: Will Duggan and Dave Harrington
  • Under 19 Football: Johnny Mccarthy, It was noted that more help will be sought here as the Under 19 start around the end of March. Peter Watson advised he will help with Administration.

The following motion was discussd:

  • One Club: At the AGM of Kildorrery GAA last Thursday 16th December, members of Kildorrery GAA adopted the GAA’s ‘One Club’ model with Kildorrery Ladies Football and Camogie Club. This followed on from the Ladies club also passing this motion at the Ladies Club AGM. The ‘One Club’ will take effect from 2022 and will lead to one membership model across the board (payable through Foireann or Registrar). It is intended to run an official launch in early 2022 once restrictions allow. Thanks to all committee members and members of both clubs for accepting this motion and we look forward to being stronger as ‘One Club’ in 2022 and beyond.


Christmas Market

Well done to everybody involved in the Christmas market last weekend. It was a great event and so well run. The kids had a ball and Santa, and his elves were as friendly as ever. Well done on running a very safe event.

Christmas Wishes
