On Wednesday evening last week, with home advantage, our Intermediate hurlers scored a well deserved 1-13 to 0-14 win over Premier Intermediate side, Watergrasshill, in the Division 3 League. From the throw-in to the final whistle, this was a keenly contested game with no quarter asked or given.  Watergrasshill opened the game with three points inside the opening five minutes. Peter O’Brien got Kildorrery moving with a pointed free in the seventh minute. James O’Sullivan from play and Peter from a free had the sides level at the end of the quarter. In the second quarter, the sides exchanged five points to have them level at eight points apiece at the break.

Within a minute of the restart, the sides had exchanged a point, but substitute James McEniry, got through for the all-important goal three minutes later. By the end of the third quarter Kildorrery led 1-12 to 0-11, but the visitors had not given up.  A minute into the final quarter, Watergrasshill were awarded a penalty, but they were denied a goal by a brilliant save from Ian Butler. Mikey Walsh had Kildorrery’s last score of the game Eight minutes from the end while the losers added three points to their tally.
