KILDORRERY 0-19 BLACKROCK 4-18

Last Sunday afternoon, at Glantane, our Intermediate hurlers failed in their bid to claim the Division 4 League title when they went under to Blackrock in the final.  The final score line was Kildorrery 0-19 Blackrock 4-18.

From the throw-in Kildorrery were first to score when Sean Kelly pointed from a free within thirty seconds.  While Blackrock replied immediately, the exchanges were close in the opening quarter, at the end of which Kildorrery trailed 0-4 to 0-7,  Blackrock pushed ahead to lead at the break 0-12 to 0-8, with Kildorrery having shot no less than eight wides.

After the restart, Kildorrery were again first to score when Peter O’Brien was on target from play. It was point for point for the remainder of the third quarter, but the winners led at the three-quarter mark 0-17 to 0-14,  Dylan Kent with his third point of the game had reduced the deficit to two points before Blackrock got through for the first of their goals in the forty seventh minute. They added a second, less than five minutes later. To their credit, Kildorrery kept plugging away but the winners were not going to be denied and a further 2-1 to Kildorrery’s 0-4 before the end ensured their deserved victory.

KILDORRERY 3-06  KILSHANNIG 3-13

On Tuesday evening last week, our Junior B2 footballers travelled to Doneraile to play Kilshannig in the North Cork Championship quarter-final. Unfortunately, they lost on the above score.  Before the game our regular goal-keeper, Dave Roche sustained an injury in the warm-up and was unable to take his place, with the result that John Hunter had to take over between the posts. Having trailed by 1-3 to 2-8 at the interval they failed to reel in this rampant Kilshannig side in the second half who went on to win by seven points.

Team and scorers:  John Hunter, Michael Lillis, Will Coffey, Richie Hurley, Fintan Daly, Jerry McCarthy 1-0, Eamonn O’Connor, Liam O’Keeffe, Paddy Pigott, Tiernan Condon, John McCarthy 0-4(0-3fs), Shane Walsh 1-0 pen, James Fox, Kieran Hurley 0-2, David Harrington .
