KILDORRERY 2-19 ST CATHERINE'S 1-15

On Tuesday evening, last week, our Intermediate hurlers travelled o play St.Catherine’s, in the league, at Ballynoe.  After a very keenly contested and entertaining hour’s hurling our boys came out with a seven point victory on the final score-line of 2-19 to 1-15. This was a most encouraging result for a team which lined out without four of the side which started against Tracton in the opening round of the championship last May.

KILDORRERY 2-15. CHARLEVILLE 2-15

With home advantage, last Thursday evening our minor hurlers had to be satisfied with a draw at the end of this championship game.

KILDORRERY 0-15  BALLYHEA 0-17

In this Division 2 Junior hurling League playoff, at Doneraile, last Friday evening, we came up just short to qualify for the semi-final.  Having finished the opening half on level terms at 0-8 apiece, Kildorrery restarted well and had forged ahead by the end of third quarter to lead 0-13 to 0-11.  However, the concession of four frees all of which were converted, inside the last quarter, cost them dearly while they could only manage two points.

Team and scorers:  Dave Roche, Mattie Walsh-O’Grady, Will Coffey, Tony Watson, Liam Kelly, Michael Lillis, P.J.Keating, Richie Hurley 0-4fs, Anthony Crowley, John McCarthy, Richie McEniry 0-3(0-1f), Cathal Harrington 0-7(0-6fs), Sean Cunningham, Liam O’Keeffe, Kieran Hurley 0-1.   Sub. Paddy Pigott for J.McCarthy inj.

KILDORRERY  1-20 EIRE OG 2-17

Our Intermediate hurlers travelled to Ovens, last Monday evening where they earned promotion to Division 3 status after a merited draw with Eire Og, in this Division 4 league game.   After a below par first half performance they trailed at the interval by ten points – 0-7 to 2-11. However, they came out in the second half with a firm purpose of amendment and within ten minutes had reduced their deficit to just a goal -1-12 to 2-12. With less than five minutes of normal time remaining the margin was down to the minimum 1-17 to 2-15. Two minutes later they were level.  On the stroke of sixty minutes they had slipped into a one point lead, but the home side levelled again and so the game ended on the above score.. This was a most encouraging second half recovery and one which augurs well for their next championship round.

Team and scorers.  Ian Butler, P.J.Keating, Will Coffey, Cormac O’Baoill, John Hunter, Michael Walsh, Shane Fitzgerald, James O’Sullivan, Dylan Kent 0-3, Jamie o’Gorman, Peter O’Brien 0-12(0-6fs), Sean Kelly, James McEniry 1-1, Cathal Harrington 0-2, Shane O’Neill.  Sub. James Keating 0-2 (0-1f) for J.O’Gorman
