KILDORRERY 1-15 BUTTEVANT 3-06

On Tuesday evening, last week, our Junior footballers played Buttevant at the home venue in the Cavanagh’s Fermoy Division 3 League.  As in their previous outing in the same competition, a number of players, for whatever reason, failed to show up with the result the game was a thirteen a side.  After a disastrous start, Kildorrery found themselves 0-1 to 1-3 in arrears halfway through the first period. Buttevant stretched their lead with a second goal two minutes into the second quarter, but Kildorrery battled on and added three points to their tally. With less than three minutes of normal time remaining in the first half Kildorrery forced a penalty, which was well converted by Shane Walsh. Buttevant finished the scoring for the first half with a point to lead by just one goal, 2-4 to 1-4 at the interval.

After the break, Kildorrery came right into the game and before the visitors raised their next flag in the fifty second minute, had gone into a five point lead, 1-12 to 2-4.  Inside the last ten minutes of play they added another three points. Butttevant had 1-1, the goal coming from a penalty which Dave Roche in goal saved but was scored on the rebound. This proved to be the last action in the game and so Kildorrery won on the score 1-15 to 3-6.
