Outgoing Cathaoirleach, Dave Roche presided at the annual general meeting of the Club when it was held before a good attendance, in the Club Hall, last Friday night. An Cathaoirleach welcomed those present and in the course of his address paid tribute to his fellow officers, players, team mentors, coaches, physios, members of the various sub-committees Avondhu and Co.Board delegates. He thanked the members for the privilege he enjoyed as Cathaoirleach for the past three years. As he had now come to the end of his term he wished the Club every success in the future.
Outgoing Runai James Fox in a lengthy and detailed report described 2018 as an historic year for the Club on and off the field. The achievement of the Under 21 hurlers in winning the North Cork championship and reaching the Co. Final was unprecedented and offers great hope for the future. The Under 21C footballers also captured Avondhu championship honours and were unlucky to lose by a single point in the Co. semi-final. Our Junior C footballers and Junior B hurlers won championship and league respectively. Both our Intermediate teams were both unfortunate to fall victim to late goals in their championships. Overall, the Club enjoyed a busy and enjoyable year on the field of play.
Referring to the Players’ Insurance, An Runai stated that “the alarmingly slow response to the Club’s insurance claims“ is appalling, with some claims dating back to 2014.
An Runai recorded his appreciation of the Club’s sponsors and fund-raisers who continue to work tirelessly to maintain the Club’s finances.
He concluded his report by extending his thanks and appreciation to his fellow officers and members for their courtesy and co-operation during his first year in office and looked forward to another successful year.
A very detailed financial report submitted by outgoing Cisteoir Willie Duggan showed a huge turn-over . Once again, the usual sources of income were well up to standard reflecting the very generous support the Club enjoys and which it is most grateful. An Cisteoir thanked all the members of the various fund-raising committees, making special mention of Cisteoir Cunta, Barry O’Connor for his valuable assistance during the past year.
Outgoing Club Uachtaran, Michael McEldowney, addressed the meeting and complimented the officers and members on the excellent manner in which the affairs are managed. He paid tribute to the players and team mentors for their loyalty and dedication and wished the Club every success in the year ahead.
Juvenile Club Cathaoirleach John Finn also addressed the meeting and thanked the parent club for its support and assistance.
