KILDORRRERY 0-7   KILSHANNIG  3- 19

Disappointing results for our teams, last week-end.  On Saturday evening at the home venue, our Under21B footballers sustained a heavy defeat by Kilshannig in the opening round of the championship.  The final score-line read  Kilshannig 3-19  Kildorrery 0-7. For various reasons, Kildorrery’s mentors only had fifteen players available to them and while the team showed plenty of spirit, they just could not match the strength and ability of the winners. At the end of the first half, they were five points in arrears – 0-6 to 2-5.

After the resumption of play, Kilshannig continued where they left off adding 1-14 to their tally while Kildorrery’s only score was a point from a free. However the back-door system ensures that they have another bite of the cherry.

Team and scorers:  Tony Watson, Donal Shinnick, John Fitzgerald, Ian Butler, Dylan Kent, Darren McNamara, P.J.Keating, Shane Walsh, Shane O’Neill 0-5(0-4fs), David Harrington, Shane Landers 0-1, Padraig Walsh, Cathal Walsh-O’Grady, Tiernan Condon 0-1, P.J.Murphy.

KILDORRRERY 0-7   KANTURK  1- 18

Unfortunately this was the final score in our Intermediate hurlers’ first game in the Division 2 league, played at Kildorrery, last Sunday afternoon. The Kanturk side, which featured three Cork seniors, looked much sharper than our boys who had little or no preparation done for their first game.  To add to Kildorrery’s woes they were forced to line out without regular scorer-in-chief, Peter O’Brien, who sustained an ankle injury in a football league game, the previous week-end. Kildorrrery’s only score in the first half was point from Finbarr Stapleton in the second minute, while the winners had 1-13 to their credit at the break.

After the restart, Kildorrery looked a more determined side and by the end of the third quarter, had added four points to their tally to the winners’ three. Inside the last quarter both sides added two points each and so the visitors ran out deserving winners on the above score.

Team and scorers: James McEniry,  Sean Kelly, Shane Fitzgerald, Niall Kelly, Tom Monaghan, Michael Walsh, Stevie Coughlan, Cormac O’Baoill, Jerry McCarthy, William Fouhy, Andrew O’Brien 0-5fs, Eamonn O’Connor, Ciaran O’Connor, David Kelly.  Subs. James O’Sullivan for C. O’Baoill, Tiernan Condon for C. O’Connor, John Howard for F.Stapleton inj.
