KILDORRERY 0-8  ST VINCENT’S 0-13

Our Intermediate footballers made the journey to the Northside of the City, last Sunday to play Premier side, St.Vincent’s in the opening round of the Division 3 league. Playing with the aid of the breeze in the opening half, Kildorrery gave a good account of themselves winning their share of exchanges but failing to convert the possession to scores, but they did lead 0-6 to 0-4 at the end of the first half.

However, on the turnover, with the wind, which had now strengthened considerably, favouring the home side, Kildorrery continued to battle and with less than ten minutes remaining, missed a goal chance which would have put them two points ahead.  On the other hand,  Vincent’s capitalised on the miss and immediately sent over a point and eventually ran out winners on the above score.

Unavailable on the day were Eamonn O’Connor, Jerry McCarthy and Liam McGrath.

Team and scorers:  Liam Kelly, Tom Paul Murphy, Cormac O’Baoill, Sean Kelly, Michael Walsh, Finbarr Stapleton, Jamie O’Gorman, Shane Fitzgerald 0-1, Peter O’Brien, James McEniry 0-2, William Fouhy, Shane O’Neill, Tom Monaghan 0-2, Stevie Coughlan 0-3, David Kelly. Subs used:  James O’Sullivan and Andrew O’Brien.

On Sunday next, they play Castletownbere at the home venue at 2.p.m.
