County Champs!!
Our under 17’s had a great win on Sunday securing the County Under 17 title on a score line of Kildorrery 0-22 Western gaels 3-11 . This was a magnificent achievement on the excellently prepared bishopstown pitch. This match ebbed and flowed throughout and there was nothing between the teams for so long. The half time score had the teams level with western gales registering two goals to five points and kildorrery had eleven points. There were points at the forty and fifty minute mark that the teams were level again. With twentt one minutes gone in the second half we took the lead and with three minutes of normal time left we were to the good by a point. When Western gales managed to bring it back level we did wonder had we squandered our chance but a brace from Cian Coughlan ensured we secured the title right at the close on a score line of Kildorrery twenty two points and Western gaels three goals and eleven.
The large visiting crowd from Kildorrery were ecstatic at the close and the many traveling families got to partake in what was a jouyous celebration on the presentation of the cup by Peer Watson who had his Rebel og hat on. Well done to the team and to the mentors of Martin,Shane Denis and Willie who have been able to guide the team throughout. The club and the parish are immensely proud of you all.
The newly crowned county champions paraded through the village starting from the church on Sunday evening and many came out to support.
