Intermediates play Gabriel Rangers in Ballydehob

On Sunday the team took the two hour journey to Ballydehob where they played Gabrielle Rangers in this round of the Intermediate football league. Its obvious to see the team are working hard to build for championship and when half time struck we seemed to be in a good place leading the home team on a score line of 1 06 to 0 05 points. Gabrielles opened the scoring and we responded very positively with three with one beautifully worked point which started from our own defence line and which she o neil converted. At thirteen minutes the sides were level and it was to be the next score on nineteen minutes which put a bit of light between us. This was excellently converted by Kieran Hurley and when we traded frees and points with the opposition again before half time there was a positive vibe for the visiting fraternity who watched from the banks.

The second half was to be a different affair and it appeared that gabrielle rangers were going to up the physical intent that prevailed and by scoring the first three points of the second half and indeed the first five scores of the first seven it was looking ominous. We seemed to be dragged in to a style of play which was far different from the first half where we defended methodically and fared better when we worked the ball through the lines. This was a a learning point for the team but a fair one at that. There were moments of positivity and also moments of key learnings. The final score line was Gabriele rangers fifteen points to kildorrery 1 -08. Shane o Neill and James O Sullivan on the score line again for us in the second half.

Kildorrery Versus Mitchelstown Junior Football League Play off

Last week we played Mitchelstown in this play off match. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be for us and again despite a spirited performance in the first half where we trailed by a single goal on a scoreline of 1 08 to 2 08. However a different far stronger Mitchelstown came out in the second half and notched up another 3 goals and four to run out eventual winners 5-12 to 1-11.
