U14 Summer Cup Gets Off to a Cracking Start! ☀️
Our U14 Summer cup campaign got underway this afternoon with a brilliant contest against Father O'Neill's, and what a game it turned out to be!
A huge thank you to Fr O'Neill's for making the trip to Kildorrery. We really appreciate the effort, and it was fantastic to welcome you on a beautiful sunny morning as the country looked forward to the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final and the World Cup Final.
With a few weeks since their last camogie match, our girls were a little rusty early on. We had the first chance with a wide inside 20 seconds before Father O'Neill's opened the scoring with a point in the second minute and followed it up with three quick goals.
But this Kildorrery team never knows when it is beaten!
The girls kept their composure, trusted each other and worked their way back into the game. The moment of the first half came from Keeva Walsh, who produced an absolute wonder goal. Standing on the edge of the square, Keeva doubled on a dropping ball and sent it flying to the back of the net. It was a piece of skill worthy of any highlight reel! At the break, the scoreboard read Fr O'Neill's 4 0, Kildorrery 1 4, and it was all to play for.
Our girls came out flying after the break with two superb points from play. Although Father O'Neill's struck for another goal early in the half, Kildorrery responded immediately with a goal of their own before taking control with some outstanding passages of camogie. The slick passing, clever movement and excellent teamwork were a joy to watch, while a few positional switches really helped us find another gear.
Both teams fielded 12 players, and on such a warm morning it was great to be able to rotate our panel, with every player making a valuable contribution.

A fantastic win to get our Summer cup campaign off to the perfect start. The girls showed tremendous heart, resilience and determination after a slow opening, never dropped their heads and played some outstanding camogie, particularly in the second half. Their teamwork, work rate and willingness to keep battling right to the final whistle were a credit to them, and there are plenty of positives to build on.
A huge well done to all our players, coaches, parents, supporters and volunteers. Many thanks also to the referee and umpires for officiating today's game and ensuring it was played in such a sporting manner.
Next up, we make the trip to East Cork in a couple of weeks to take on Killeagh. Keep up the hard work, girls. The future is bright! 💙🤍
