Kildorrery Hosts successful AGM
We held our Annual General Meeting on Friday November 7th. The meeting drew a large attendance with approximately 300% increase in delegates from last year’s event.
In his opening address, the Chairperson Joe Sherlock welcomed everybody and outlined the very eventful and successful year the club had culminating in the pitch opening by the GAA president Jarlath Burns. He went on to say that we would be welcoming five new officers to the club this year. He also went through each of the elements of the club and thanked all the committees who were instrumental in bringing the club to where it is today.
into 2026, the focus remains on growing membership ,maintaining financial stability, and continuing to improve our facilities for our players and members.
“We have come a long way in the past year but there is a lot more to do. Internally, we are working on enhancing the facilities of the club, along with a new communications strategy.
“Thank you to our membership and the other officers of the club for support and input this year.”
The Secretary David Harrington outlined in his report the huge amount that happened this year in respect of games etc. He went on to speak also of the many aspects of the year that brought great joy and challenge to the club. The Secretary’s excellent report was proposed and adopted. Next came our Treasurer Willie Duggan and willie summarised the continuing progress being made about financial matters but also outlined that the huge financial ask of the club now to service the Credit union loan achieved to complete the pitch. He thanked all elements of the organisation for their cooperation in trying to better the financial matters of the club.
Our President Tom Monaghan relayed how proud he was off the club. Tom also over saw the election of officers. The following were elected, Chair Joe Sherlock,Vice James Fox, Secretary Dave Harrington, Vice Tracey McNamara, Treasurer Willie Duggan, Vice Tom Burke, Communications officer Hannah Stack, Sustainability Officer Michael Murphy. The club was delighted to welcome Hannah who will manage communications for the club.
The Adoption of motion to play junior B championship and not league was adopted.
During the course of the meeting, we also heard from The ladies committee, the juvenile committee and other committees like the Astro,Lotto and it was evident to hear of the hard work going on all over the club.
Next was the selection of player mgt. The minor footballers will be looked after by Eamonn O Connor, Brendan Walash and Dave white. The meeting heard that club stalwart Willie Duggan was stepping away from minor hurling and this would now be taken over by up-and-coming coach Louhghlin McGovern Pat fenton and John Murphy. The under 21’s will be looked after by Dylan Kent, James Keating,Willie Duggan Cathal Harrington and Luke keating.
Our intermediate footballers will be looked after by Peter O Brien, Dave Kelly, James Harding and Brian McNamara and our junior Footballers by pa walsh and John Gallagher.
Our Intermediate hurling team for the next year will be Brian Tennysson, Joe Caplice, Peter finn and john o Gorman. The junior hurling will fall under the same group.
The Chairman thanked all candidates for going forward and especially acknowledged the service of outgoing hurling manager Sean Keating, the football team of John Howard,Dave white and Ephie fitzgeralf and thanked them for their unwavering passion and commitment.
In closing the meeting, the Chair acknowledged that work of volunteers as the backbone of the organisation and thanked all of those who contribute at every level. He also said that the continuing fostering of volunteerism across the organisation.
Results
We beat Charleville in U21 hurling this weekend on a score line of 1-21 to 4-07. Well done to all involved.
Kildorrery Drama Group
Ticketas are now on sale for this year's play by Kildorrery Drama Group. 'The Far Off Hills' is a 3 act comedy by Lennox Robinson & will be held in The Store 8pm nightly on Wed 12th, Thurs 13th, Fri 14th, Sat 15th & Sun 16th of November.

Senior citizen Christmas party Sunday 30th November in the Community Hall at 1.30 pm.There will be a church gate collection on the weekend before at each Mass.
Kildorrery Church Saturday night 22nd November and Sunday morning 23rd November and also Shraharla on Sunday 23rd November. Many thanks.
Mass on Friday night the 14th of November at 7.30 for deceased members of our community who have died in the last 12 Months.

the lotto draw took place on Monday November 10th . At the time of submitting the notes the results were not known.
