No Joy for our Intermediate Hurlers

Lat weekend we travelled to dungourney for this winner takes all match with Erins own. Last year we succumbed to the same team by two points so this week we were hoping to reverse that position. However, that was not to be as Erins own had the upper hand at the final whistle on a score line of 2-12 to 0-15 and took that all important second spot in Group 3. Two first-half goals were the foundation for Erins own victory. Erins own opened this encounter with urgency as the game got off to a fast-paced start, where they registered 1-01 to no score within 4 minutes. Finbar registered our first point after ten, but Erins own then took control again having goaled for a second time after 15 minutes and at 2-05 to 0-03 down at this point, we knew our back were going to be to the wall. We managed two more points before the break to leave ourselves trailing by 2-07 to 0-06 points. This wasn’t an impossible lead to catch but at the same time we were going to have to improve hugely against this very well prepared erins own outfit. Peter O Brien who had been carrying an injury during the week was introduced for John Hunter and when Mikey Walsh and when Conor Kent opened the scoring in the second half, we knew this was the precise response required, and we had a glimmer of hope that we would succeed. With 40 minutes gone we trailed 2-08 to 0-08 and precisely at this time we received a numerical advantage when the opposition had a man sent off. Cian Coughlan was introduced for Shane Fitzgerald and after trading points the score was 2-10 to 0-10. It was obvious that Erins own were not going to Panic and were quite capable of maintaining their lead when called on. Dylan was introduced for Finbarr. Cian pointed and then Cathal was introduced for Richie. When peter pointed, the deficit was reduced to four and a further point from Luke and it was three. We missed a few scorable chances in that final quarter that would prove costly. Erins own had two key talisman that contributed 1-07 and 1-03 respectively to their final tally. Our lads put in a huge effort again this year and on behalf of the club and all the supporters we would like to convey our thanks to all the team ,Mentors and support team for all your effort. We’ll bounce back again in 2026!

Pitch update

Important that people have the correct footwear, moulded studs, Astro footwear or runners. We would ask all coaches to make sure this is the case.

Secondly the booking of the Astro will be reviewed weekly until we get the proper flow of training, capacity etc.

These bookings will be supervised. This is an exciting time for all of us and I know we will treat the Astro with the respect it deserves.

200 club update

With just over 2 weeks gone since our 200-club launch, we are at 25% of our 200 club target with 51 individuals or families having signed up already.
