Hurlers advance with draw in Hurling Championship

On Sunday we played Ballygiblin in the first time at this grade. With expectation high of a good local derby it didn’t disappoint in terms of how it ebbed and flowed. Kildorrery got off the mark with a Dave Kelly point and ball giblin responded over the next five minutes with two until James mceniry capitalised on some fumbling with the box to score a goal. Ballygiblin came back with the next five points in a row as they seemed to capitalise on the extra space being afforded to them and the gentle breeze. Peter responded with two points per frees and ballygiblin similarly responded in kind with two more from play. An exchange of two more per team again with ours coming from Luke and peter meant that at half time we trailed a Goal and five to thirteen points. We know with the BreaK would also bring the opportunity to redress the balance and that we did by registering eight points on the trot. Per Dave Kelly opening the half like the first and then peter and dylan with james and Peter keeping the score board ticking over and it was until the 23rd minute of the second half before Ballygiblin had registered a score and significantly enough we had five wides in this period also. Ballygiblin tended to be on top for a five-minute spell which led them back to a draw as we had a chance to convert a free which would have brought us four points ahead. Alas that was not meant to be and we played out a draw. Again, this encounter would give us food for thought and help us understand a little more about ourselves and closing out but at the end of half time we probably would have settled for a point. The final score of goal sixteen to nineteen points was how it finished on the night. (See Paddy ryan report also)

Pitch progress

The Time has come. We are delighted to announce that our Astro pitch is available now for our teams to train or have a puck around on.

This is exciting news for all of us and a testament to the hard work put in by our committee led by Tony and the team and you our members and community for your support to date.

These teams will be on the pitch in accordance with David and Maria who manage the pitch bookings.

Important that people have the correct footwear, moulded studs,Astro footwear or runners. We would ask all coaches to make sure this is the case.

Secondly the booking of the Astro will be reviewed weekly until we get the proper flow of training, capacity etc.

These bookings will be supervised. This is an exciting time for all of us and I know we will treat the Astro with the respect it deserves.

It is envisaged that the President of the GAA Jarlath Burns will visit the club to officially open the pitch in October.

New 200 club Launched !

This week to Support the financing of the pitch we Launched our new 200 club whereby 200 families or individuals will be asked to donate five euro per week to the club to defray the costs of the project while also being able to enter a draw. This is going to be a tremendous development for the club and community, and we are looking forward to having the finished product shortly.

Pitch Parking

Parking is now permitted in the car park again. Please reverse park to the footpath at the new pitch and same for the parking lines outside that. Please keep the corridor to the main pitch open in the urgent requirement of an ambulance.
