Great start to football championship…
In our first outing of the year, we got the better of Dromtarriffe by 0-14 to 0-12 with the hugely impressive James Keating’s delivering two two-pointers which went a long way to getting us over the line. But this was not a performance where you could only single out one man because in truth our fifteen men and substitutions were all hugely impressive in terms of their attitude leadership and focus. Dromtarriffe started proceedings with a two pointer within the first ninety seconds. We traded wides within the first six minutes and Dromtariife tacked on another after nine. James keating had our first point after twelve minutes and Kieran hurley added soon after. A series of Dromtariffe points one coming from a free edged them into Nine points to two lead while we had squandered arguably two gettable chances to score points. It was the very safe pair of hands in goals Darren caplice who stepped up just before half time to kick a two pointer which brought us in at the break nine points to four. The team were very composed at half time and knew that our fitness would be a huge factor.
The second half started with a james keating point and and another exchange of points by Domtariffe and one per cathal Harrington as well as a well taken free by the impressive Harrington and we were starting to close the gap. This third quarter was extremely important as Keating stepped up once more to lead the line by kicking two two pointers to eventually claw back the deficit on the 19th minute. A further point by newly introduced sean Watson on the 20th minute and we took the lead. A lead we were to hold right to the end and further points by the brothers luke and james keating and were leading by three. Dromtariffe scored the last point of the match, and we were to hold out for a well-deserved championship victory that sets us on course for the remaining fixtures. All credit to the management and team and to the two substitutions dave hunter and sean Watson who were hugely influential. Our next outing in football will be on Saturday August 23rd where we will try to overturn the Last years Gabriel rangers’ fixture who had the better of Mitchelstown this weekend on a scoreline of nineteen points to sixteen.

Pitch progress
The progress on the pitch has been flying over the last two weeks. We are hoping that all works will be concluded shortly. Thanks to the Astro and finance committees who are guiding the projects along. We should see the conclusion of it now very shortly. It is envisaged that the President of the GAA Jarlath Burns will visit the club to officially open the pitch in October.
New 200 club
To Support the financing of the pitch we will be launching our new 200 club in August whereby 200 families or individuals will be asked to donate five euro per week to the club to defray the costs of the project while also being able to enter a draw. This is going to be a tremendous development for the club and community, and we are looking forward to having the finished product shortly.
Bus for Camogie Final
We will run a bus for All-Ireland Camogie final Cork v Galway *Sunday 10th August* in Croke Park.
If interested please let Jackie, Tracey or James fox know over next few days so we can get numbers of adults/students/children and arrange club ticket offer over the next few days.
