Farewell John

This week we learned the sad news that our friend Johnny Walsh Marshalstown had left this world. Johnny was a force of nature who lit up everyone’s eyes with a smile. He had played for kildorrery for years and laterally had got involved with the Blackrock club in limerick and was a true GAA fanatic. Johnny himself touched many people’s hearts with his Contagious smile that conveyed his personal and optimistic personality.

The Walsh and wider families would like to express from the bottom of their hearts their heartfelt thanks to all who supported them over the course of the last few days. No matter what it was it was a comfort at this time. During the beautifully composed sermon we heard about the Love Johnny had for all family and friends as well as his insistence on having “Good times”…

The club will held a moment of silence for his passing and others who have passed in the parish at our brief meeting Monday.

The guard of honour for Johnny took Place from the church gate and you could tell by the huge attendance at this and at the funeral proceedings over the few days of just how popular Johnny was. Johnny you will be missed. God Speed. To the Walsh and wider families, we convey our deep condolences. Ar dheis De.

Cul camp

Now that the 2025 Cúl Camp is over, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making this week so memorable.

Huge well done to the 130+ children at Cul Camp this week, all the coaches, helpers and parents who supported. Thanks to Julianne Murphy for her excellent organisation and making the week fun for all. Also, thanks to Cork players Brian Hayes and Sean Walsh who came during the week and to former GAA President Aogan O’Fearghail who helped present medals. More photos to follow online over the weekend thanks all.

To all the children who attended: your positivity, kindness, sense of fun, excellent manners, and respect for each other and your coaches were truly outstanding. You created a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, and it was a pleasure to see you all enjoying yourselves and looking out for one another.

The success of any team is built not just on skill or effort, but on the friendships formed along the way. And remember success is measured in so many ways – not just in cups, medals and titles but in the smiles, the laughter, the encouragement shared, and the memories created together.

To the parents and guardians: thank you for the encouragement you showed your children throughout the week, particularly during what was a full-on and tiring schedule – especially for our younger participants. Your support for them is invaluable and greatly appreciated.

A heartfelt thank you to our coaches, who were the face of the camp for the children and made it the success it was. Thanks to everyone who helped throughout the week – whether coaching, sharing tips, supervising lunches, organising medals, organising equipment, putting safety plans in place, or arranging visitors and video messages. Your efforts ensured everything ran smoothly.

Go raibh míle maith agat le hAogán Ó Fearghail, iar-Uachtarán an GAA, who kindly presented the medals in front of the stand he originally opened in 2017. His presence added something special to the occasion.

Special thanks are also due to Caroline White, James Fox, and Jackie Griffin, who were there from start to finish.

Tickets All Ireland Final

Regarding tickets for the All-Ireland final, the club will be given an allocation based on our grading at county level. I do not know what the allocation is yet but will communicate when I know. Tickets will again be distributed using links and codes like how it was done for the previous games. In a slight change each code will access 2 tickets rather than 4. We will clarify these details when I get confirmation from the county board.

As a result of this and the demand I know will be there, the club will be conducting a draw for the tickets. There are only full price adult tickets available for the final, there will be no student/OAP or juvenile tickets for sale. The draw will only be open to adult members as a result.

The lotto was not won last week. The next lotto will be Monday 7th and the jackpot is €5400.Thank you for all your support.

Congrats to Cork

Congrats to Cork who played Dublin last weekend in the All-Ireland semifinal and now go on to play Tipperary in the final. Best wishes to Tom Thornhill part of the back-room team.
