Junior footballers secure title

Our junior footballers played buttevant last Sunday at 4.30pm in shanballymore in the North Cork Junior B Final and recorded a victory to mark back to back titles at this grade. This feat was last completed in 1928 and 1929 by Kildorrery.

We started well and when Tom Monaghan pointed and Liam McMillian goaled from a great passage of play we were off to a great start. Buttevant then registered their first point which Cian Coughlan quickly responded to. Buttevant got the next two before tom Monaghan had his second. Paudi Flynn and Liam McMillian were to score again and on the thirty-minute mark when the whistl went the team were in a strong position and the score line at Half time was a goal and seven to five points.

The second half was a relatively tame affair and Buttveant opened the scoring but were only going to register one more point in the half . There were a few substitutions made and Stevie Coughlan added a little spice to the occasion when he pointed magnificently from the forty-five-yard line. Man of the match Jack McNamara played a captain’s role and led from the run running at the defence all night. He was to be rewarded for his efforts with a goal as the game drew to a close. Well, done to all the team on the final score line of at full time of two goals and ten points to seven points.

Well done to the Management team and to all involved. Mike Kent, Stevie Kent, James fox and Pa Walsh.
