Current Developments at Kildorrery GAA Club

Installation of Floodlights

The Club undertook a major project in 2006 when they contracted John Keane Electrical and Abacus lighting to install a state of the art floodlighting system.  A comittee was set up to oversee the project and they visited sites as far away as Myshall in Carlow before they decided on the Abacus system.  One of the advantages of Abacus over its competitors was the facility to be able to lower the 20 metre columns to the ground for servicing.  The system installed is a 350 LUX system which allows the playing of Hurling matches as well as Football.  The Floodlights have proven to be a huge asset to all teams within the club particularly early in the year and also from September onwards when we have teams still competing in the Championship. Friday nights have proven very popular for the playing of League matches and it eases the burden when it comes to the closing stages of the leagues.

The next Phase of Development will be the upgrading of the Shower areas, the provision of an Indoor Ball alley and the replacement of the Pitch perimiter fencing.
