Kildorrery Junior ‘A’ Footballers very lucky!
The Avondhu Press - 24th June 2004
Kildorrery 2-10
Kilworth 2-10

Our junior ‘A’ footballers can count themselves very lucky to be still in the championship after a disastrous second half performance in which they forced a replay with Kilworth, when the sides met at Ballyhooly, last Sunday evening.

Whether it was over-confidence after their scintillating display in the replayed first round against Glanworth or just lack of motivation, they certainly were not up for this game against Kilworth. Their key players down the centre, were not on their game and this was reflected in the frustration they displayed.

However, they now have another chance to advance in this championship and hopefully, they will avail of it.

Kildorrery started poorly and after the opening ten minutes or so, trailed 0-1 to 1-3. However, once they found their rhythm they added 1-6 on the trot, to go 1-7 to 1-3 ahead and at the interval, they led 1-7 to 1-4.

Again after the resumption of play, they allowed Kilworth back into the game and inside the third quarter they were back on level terms and with things going bad for Kildorrery, they could not break free of the Kilworth shackles.

When Kildorrery looked like getting through for a goal, the ball suddenly broke in Kilworth’s favour and an upfield surge resulted in a goal for them, to which they added a point - 2-10 to 1-9. However, Kildorrery, to their credit, fought back and managed to force a draw, with time virtually up.

The replay has now been fixed for this Saturday afternoon, again at Ballyhooly at 3.30pm.
