Kildorrery Junior A footballers travelled to near by Shanballymore, where they defeated the home side in the Division 1 league, on a score 3-9 to 1-7.Shanballymore started well and had 3 points on the scoreboard before Tom Monaghan put Kildorrery on level terms with a well taken goal.
Two minutes later, a movement commencing with Dave White and involving John Finn and John Howard was finished to the net by Eamonn O'Connor.Shanballymore had increased their tally to 4 points before the losers got through for a rather fortuitous goal resulting from a rather uncharacteristic misjudgment by Kildorrery keeper Brendan Hannon.
Two points per Eamonn O'Connor and John Howard saw Kildorrery 2-2 to 1-4 ahead at the break.
After the interval, the winners upped the tempo and a plentiful supply of ball to the forwards resulted in points per Tom Whelan, Eamonn O'Connor and Tom Monaghan. Midway through this period a fine solo run by Eamonn O'Connor, laid off to Tom Monaghan, whos shot came back off the upright, John Howard was on hand to punch to the Shanbally net to make the score 3-5 to 1-6.
Four points per Stephen Coughlan, John Howard(2) and Eamonn O'Connor, completed the winners tally while the home side could only manage one. Solid defensive play by Kildorrery's backs, stymied the Shanballymore attacks in the last quarter with Stephen Kent, John Cremin and Tadgh Coffey prominent.
